Susan Glasser

Susan Glasser is a staff writer at The New Yorker, where she writes a weekly column on life in Donald Trump’s Washington and serves as co-host of the magazine’s acclaimed podcast, "The Political Scene." Glasser has served as the top editor of several Washington publications, including, most recently, Politico and Foreign Policy, each of which was recognized with National Magazine Awards during her tenure. Before that, she worked for a decade at the Washington Post, where she was the editor of Outlook and national news. She also oversaw coverage of the impeachment of Bill Clinton, spent four years as the Post’s Moscow co-bureau chief, and covered the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Glasser is a frequent television commentator, appearing regularly on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” ABC’s “This Week,” and PBS’s “Washington Week,” as well as on other news programs on CNN, MSNOW, and National Public Radio.

Her books include "Kremlin Rising: Vladimir Putin’s Russia and the End of Revolution," the first major portrait of Putin’s rollback of democracy to appear in the U.S., and the recent New York Times bestsellers "The Man Who Ran Washington," a biography of Secretary of State James A. Baker III, and "The Divider: Trump in the White House," 2017-2021, all of which she co-wrote with her husband, Peter Baker. An honors graduate of Harvard University, she lives in Washington, D.C. with him and their dog Ellie.
