Susan Cox

Susan Cox is the co-owner and CEO of Stout Creek Farm, a family-owned regenerative farm and ranch spanning 960 acres in Northeast Texas. The farm holds personal significance for Cox, whose ancestor, Texas pioneer Capt. Henry Stout, arrived in the area in the mid-1800s and used Stout Creek to power one of the first mills in Wood County. This ancestral connection has influenced Cox's commitment to land stewardship and her vision for sustainable agriculture.

Cox and her family transitioned from urban life to full-time agricultural entrepreneurship, establishing Stout Creek Farm as a model for regenerative farming practices. In addition to her responsibilities as co-owner and CEO, Cox manages a law practice, balancing careers in both agriculture and law. Stout Creek Farm is owned and operated by Cox alongside Brent Barry and Ben Cox, and together they have developed the operation with a focus on ecological responsibility and sustainable food production.

The farm raises grass-finished Red Poll beef cattle and sheep, as well as pasture-raised goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and ducks. Seasonal vegetables, herbs, and flowers are also produced, all following regenerative practices that avoid synthetic fertilizers, chemical herbicides, and antibiotics for growth promotion. The farm prioritizes biodiversity and carbon sequestration, aiming to improve soil health and contribute to climate change mitigation by mimicking natural ecological processes.
