Summer McIntosh

Summer McIntosh, a three-time Olympic champion, eight-time World Aquatics champion, and two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist, has displayed significant prowess in aquatic sports. At the tender age of 14, she garnered attention as the youngest member of the Canadian team at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Her athletic journey continued to ascend as she made national and Commonwealth records in the 400 metre individual medley in 2022. Her performance in the 2024 Summer Olympics, where she won four individual medals (three gold and one silver), led to increased global recognition, with Time magazine coining the nickname "Summer of Summer."

McIntosh has repeatedly demonstrated her exceptional skills in the swimming pool, holding world records in several events, including the 200 and 400 metre individual medley, and the 400 metre freestyle. Her accomplishments extend to the short course pool, where she is a four-time World Swimming Championships gold medallist and holds world records in the 400 metre freestyle, 200 metre butterfly, and 400 metre individual medley events. She has set numerous Canadian, Commonwealth, and world records, showcasing her ability to consistently perform at the highest level of competition. Her achievements have been recognized with accolades such as the Bobbie Rosenfeld Award as the Canadian Press' choice for Canadian female athlete of the year.

McIntosh's record-breaking performances and valuable contribution to her team's successes have made her an influential figure in the swimming world. She has been named to the Canadian Olympic team multiple times, and her participation in global championships has continually yielded impressive results. In 2024, McIntosh became the first Canadian woman to win two individual gold medals at a single Summer Olympics and was chosen as one of Canada's flag-bearers for the Paris Olympics closing ceremony. She continues to train and compete at the highest level, most recently training under Bob Bowman at the University of Texas at Austin.
