Stevie Wonder

Stevie Wonder is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist recognized for his significant contributions to rhythm-and-blues and pop music. Blind since infancy due to retinopathy of prematurity, Wonder developed his musical abilities early, learning multiple instruments and singing in church choirs before signing with Motown Records at age 12 and debuting as Little Stevie Wonder. At 13, Wonder became the youngest artist to reach the number one spot on the Billboard charts with the single "Fingertips."

Wonder's career expanded in the 1970s with albums such as "Talking Book," "Innervisions," and "Songs in the Key of Life," which produced hits including "Superstition" and "I Wish." "Songs in the Key of Life" topped the charts for 14 weeks. His use of electronic keyboard instruments influenced the development of contemporary music, bridging classic rhythm-and-blues and soul with modern pop and rock. Wonder's vocal style draws from jazz and Black church music, contributing to the emotional depth and innovation in his recordings.

Wonder has achieved 32 No. 1 R&B and pop singles, 49 Top 40 R&B and pop singles, and has received 25 Grammy Awards, along with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also served as a United Nations Messenger of Peace.
