Steve Stoute

Steve Stoute is an entrepreneur, record executive, and cultural leader whose career spans the music, advertising, and technology industries. Stoute held executive roles at several major music labels, including serving as president of the Urban Music division and executive vice president at Interscope Geffen A&M Records, as well as president of Urban Music at Sony Music Entertainment. He contributed to the launch of Will Smith's music career, produced albums for Mariah Carey and Nas, led production efforts for Gwen Stefani and Enrique Iglesias, and executive produced the Academy Award–winning film and soundtrack "8 Mile." Stoute also co-founded Ill Will Records with Nas.

After more than a decade in the music industry, Stoute transitioned to brand marketing and founded Translation, a music marketing agency. Translation connects global brands to culture through sports and entertainment, working with companies such as Meta, Lego, and the NBA. Stoute played a key role in campaigns including McDonald's "I'm Lovin' It" featuring Justin Timberlake and Apple's "Chapters" campaign with Mary J. Blige, Taraji P. Henson, and Kerry Washington.

Stoute later founded UnitedMasters, a music distribution platform where he serves as chief executive officer. UnitedMasters is a technology-driven artist services company that enables musicians to maximize their potential while maintaining independence from traditional record labels. The platform allows artists to retain full ownership of their master recordings and has supported the careers of Brent Faiyaz, Lil Tecca, NLE Choppa, and BigXthaPlug. UnitedMasters has offices in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, and the company has been valued at over $500 million.

Stoute is also the author of the book "The Tanning of America," which explores how corporate America can engage with young adult audiences. He co-founded the Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN) with Mary J. Blige. Stoute's recognition includes membership in the Advertising Hall of Achievement, being named one of Fast Company's Most Creative People in Business, and receiving the Executive of the Year honor from Ad Age. His work bridges hip-hop, business, and marketing, influencing both the music and advertising industries.
