Steve Schwab

Steve Schwab is a leader in health, public policy, and philanthropy, serving as CEO of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. Under Schwab's leadership, the foundation has become a leading organization supporting military and veteran caregivers, launching initiatives such as the Hidden Heroes campaign and the Hidden Heroes Cities program. Schwab played a key role in expanding the Department of Veterans Affairs' Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers to include caregivers from every war era, and has overseen the foundation’s signature fundraising event, Heroes and History Makers, raising significant funds to advance its mission.

Schwab is a public speaker and expert who has addressed audiences internationally, testified before Congress, and advised senior leaders in government, business, and the nonprofit sector. His advocacy and coalition-building efforts have brought national attention to the challenges faced by military families, with appearances on major media outlets such as NBC’s TODAY, 60 Minutes, Fox & Friends, and NPR. Schwab also serves as executive producer of the Academy Award-qualifying film "Sky Blossom" and chairs the board of directors of PsychArmor, demonstrating his commitment to supporting the military community.

Prior to joining the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, Schwab held senior leadership roles in external affairs, development, and public service, including positions at National Cathedral, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and Rochester Institute of Technology. He began his career in New York City politics and business development. Schwab’s experience in uniting diverse stakeholders and his persistence in addressing challenges have contributed to a nationwide movement for military caregivers, establishing him as an advocate and public voice in the field.
