Steve Keen

Steve Keen is a post-Keynesian economist known for his critique of neoclassical economics, particularly articulated in his book "Debunking Economics." In this work, Keen examines the core assumptions of mainstream economic theory, highlighting logical inconsistencies, lack of empirical support, and challenges in modeling real-world dynamics such as financial instability. His analysis presents complex economic issues in an accessible manner, making economic theory and its flaws understandable to a broad audience.

Keen received recognition for his early warnings about the global financial crisis, modeling debt-deflation dynamics inspired by Hyman Minsky prior to the collapse. He was awarded the Revere Award from Real World Economics Review for his work in identifying potential economic crises. Keen also developed Minsky, an open-source monetary macroeconomic modeling program, contributing to complex systems approaches in economics and demonstrating expertise in financial instability and econophysics.

During his career, Keen has held academic positions including Head of the School of Economics, History and Politics at Kingston University and roles at University of Western Sydney.
