Steve Byrne

Steve Byrne is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and director known for his energetic stage presence and sharp observational humor. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to a Korean mother and Irish father, Byrne often draws on his multicultural upbringing as a rich source of comedic material. After beginning his career performing in clubs and festivals across the United States, he quickly gained national recognition for his high-energy style and rapid-fire storytelling, becoming a regular presence on television and the international comedy circuit.

Byrne first reached a wider audience through appearances on major late-night programs including “The Tonight Show,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “The Late Late Show,” and “Comic View.” His stand-up specials, including “Steve Byrne’s Happy Hour” and “The Byrne Identity” on Comedy Central, helped establish him as one of the rising comics of the 2000s. In 2012 he created and starred in the TBS sitcom “Sullivan & Son,” which ran for three seasons and was produced by Vince Vaughn and Peter Billingsley.

Beyond stand-up and television, Byrne has built a successful career in filmmaking. He directed the documentary “Always Amazing,” which follows the life and career of comedian-magician The Amazing Johnathan and premiered at several international film festivals. Byrne later wrote and directed the feature film “The Opening Act,” a comedy about the struggles of life on the stand-up circuit, starring Jimmy O. Yang and Cedric the Entertainer. He has also appeared in films including “Couples Retreat,” “Four Christmases,” and “The Dilemma.”

In recent years, Byrne has continued to tour internationally and release stand-up specials, including “The Last Late Night,” while performing regularly at major comedy venues and festivals around the world.
