Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry is an All-Star point guard with the Golden State Warriors and is widely regarded as the greatest shooter and one of the greatest players of all time. He is a four-time NBA champion, a two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, an NBA Finals MVP, and an NBA All-Star Game MVP. A ten-time NBA All-Star and nine-time All-NBA selection, Curry has also won two gold medals at the FIBA World Cup as a member of the U.S. men's national team.

Curry splashed onto the national scene while leading Davidson College to the Elite 8 in the 2008 NCAA Basketball Tournament. In 2008-09, he led the nation in scoring with 28.6 points per game and was a consensus first-time All-America selection. Curry was twice named the Southern Conference Player of the Year. During his sophomore year, Curry set the NCAA single-season record for three-pointers at 162. He holds career records at Davidson for scoring, three-pointers, free throws, 30-point games, and 40-point games.

The Warriors selected Curry in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft (7th overall). He was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month for January, March, and April. He finished his rookie season as runner-up for the 2009-10 NBA Rookie of the Year Award and was a unanimous First Team All-Rookie selection. In the 2010-11 season, Curry upped his scoring average to 18.6 points per game. He also averaged 5.8 assists per game and led the NBA in free-throw percentage. During the 2011 NBA All-Star Weekend, Curry won the Taco Bell Skills Challenge. He also received the NBA Sportsmanship Award for the 2010-11 season.

In the 2014-15 season, Curry won his first league MVP award and led the Warriors to their first championship since 1975. Curry helped the Warriors win back-to-back championship titles in 2017 and 2018 and won his fourth championship in 2022 against the Boston Celtics. The same season, he became the all-time leader in three-pointers made in NBA history, surpassing Ray Allen. Curry is credited with revolutionizing the game of basketball by inspiring teams, from high school to the NBA, to regularly use the three-point shot.

Curry also has a background in philanthropy. In 2012, Curry started donating three insecticide-treated mosquito nets for every three-pointer he made to the United Nations Foundation's Nothing But Nets campaign to combat malaria. He and his wife, Ayesha Curry, launched Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation in Oakland, California, which works to end childhood hunger, increase access to quality education, and provide safe spaces for children to stay active.
