Stephanie Liu

Stephanie Liu is the co-founder and chief technology officer of Nourish, a telenutrition platform that connects patients with registered dietitians through insurance-covered virtual care. Liu holds a bachelor's degree in computer science and Spanish language and culture from Princeton University. Before co-founding Nourish, Liu built a foundation across several technology companies in Silicon Valley. Earlier in her career, she contributed to consumer product and job recommendation initiatives as a software engineer at Handshake and also held software engineering positions at Meta Platforms and LinkedIn. Prior to Nourish, Liu was a software engineer at Ethos, focusing on technology solutions within the insurance sector. Her experience also includes a role as venture fellow at Susa Ventures, where she gained exposure to early-stage ventures and the venture capital environment.

After personal experiences with the healthcare system and finding solutions through dietary changes, Liu and her co-founders Aidan Dewar and Sam Perkins became interested in integrating dietitians into outpatient, digital-first healthcare. They launched Nourish with the mission of making nutrition care accessible through telehealth and insurance coverage. As CTO, Liu oversees technology strategy and drives product development within the healthcare sector. Under her technical leadership, Nourish has developed a fully integrated virtual care platform that addresses gaps in healthcare access. While most Americans have insurance that covers working with a registered dietitian, fewer than 1 percent utilize this benefit. Nourish facilitates connections between patients and dietitians via telehealth, with the majority of patients paying no out-of-pocket costs.

Nourish has invested in artificial intelligence, building an in-house electronic medical record system that integrates AI tools for dietitians, such as automating chart notes, preparing clinicians for sessions, and summarizing visits. The patient-facing app offers AI-powered meal logging, personalized feedback based on wearable or lab data, and messaging with care teams. Liu has articulated the company's broader vision to help build a healthcare system that prioritizes preventative care and meets patients through digital-first, user-friendly technology and clinical support.

Nourish has grown to become one of the largest nutrition care platforms, with more than 3,000 registered dietitians on staff. The company has established partnerships with health plans, employers, health systems, and provider groups, serving hundreds of thousands of patients. Nourish has raised significant funding, with a Series B round bringing total funding to $115 million and the company's valuation surpassing $1 billion. Nourish is now profitable, a rare achievement among digital health startups. Liu's background in engineering, venture capital, and healthcare technology positions her as a knowledgeable voice on the intersection of technology, healthcare innovation, and preventative medicine.
