Stacey D Stewart

Stacey D. Stewart is a leader in nonprofit management and philanthropy, with a career spanning more than 25 years across major nonprofit and philanthropic organizations in the United States. Stewart has served as chief executive officer of four national and global organizations, focusing on organizational transformation, strategic growth, and community impact. Her professional background includes experience in investment banking, the corporate sector, and nonprofit leadership, where she has led large-scale financial and operational transformations.

Stewart has held executive roles including U.S. president at United Way Worldwide, the world's largest charitable organization, and chief diversity officer, senior vice president for community charitable giving, and foundation president and CEO at Fannie Mae. At United Way, Stewart led the organization's shift from a pass-through fundraiser to a leader in community impact, developing partnerships to advance initiatives in more than 40 countries. She later became the fifth president and first African American president of March of Dimes, where she guided the organization to focus on maternal health, health equity, and brand relevance among younger audiences and communities of color. Stewart also led advocacy efforts that contributed to significant legislation in maternal and infant health. Her leadership at March of Dimes was recognized by Forbes among the Top 10 CEOs Transforming Healthcare in America.

Stewart is the chief executive officer of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, where she leads efforts to address impaired driving through innovation, cross-sector partnerships, and public safety strategies. Under her leadership, MADD has undergone a comprehensive transformation, including strengthening financial performance, modernizing the brand, and advancing technology-enabled prevention. Stewart's commitment to the mission is informed by personal experience, as her sister was injured in a crash caused by a drowsy driver.

She is a national advocate for the HALT Drunk Driving Law, a federal mandate requiring impaired-driving prevention technology in new vehicles, and has worked with policymakers, technology innovators, and automotive leaders to accelerate adoption of these advancements. Stewart is also the founder of the SportsMom Foundation, which supports girl student-athletes from under-resourced communities. She has served on more than 40 nonprofit boards, including Independent Sector, Bipartisan Policy Center, and Women's Congressional Policy Institute, and currently serves on the boards of PennyMac and Hologic.

Stewart holds an MBA in finance from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Georgetown University, along with several honorary degrees.
