Southall

Southall is a platinum-certified American country rock band based in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and a prominent part of the Red Dirt music scene. Originally known as the Read Southall Band, the group was formed by Read Southall. The band blends country, 1990s grunge, soul, and Americana, creating a distinctive sound that has attracted a wide following across the United States and internationally. The transition to the name Southall reflects the group's collective identity and emphasizes the contributions of all members.

The band's debut record, "Six String Sorrow," marked the beginning of their journey. The lineup includes Southall, Perry, Barber, Knipp, Curlis, and Wellman. Their self-titled album, "Southall," produced by Eddie Spear and recorded at Church Studio in Tulsa, showcases a shift from their acoustic roots to a more collaborative and energetic sound. Each member contributes lyrics, melodies, and songs, highlighting the band's evolving creative process. The album "For the Birds" features the single "Rose Gold" and the track "Stickin' n Movin'," which appeared on the CBS series "Fire Country," expanding the band's mainstream presence.

Southall has accumulated more than 133 million streams on Spotify and over 101 million on Apple Music, with nearly 1 million monthly listeners across platforms. The band regularly tours the United States and internationally, headlining shows and supporting acts such as Whiskey Myers, Chase Rice, and Blackberry Smoke. Southall has also served as direct support for tours with Whiskey Myers and The Black Crowes, as well as ZZ Top and Dwight Yoakam.

Founded by vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Read Southall, the band released its fifth full-length LP, "Kinfolk," on Smoklahoma Records. The album was recorded in Norman, Oklahoma, with Grammy-nominated producer Wes Sharon. "Kinfolk" continues Southall's tradition of blending old-school country with rock 'n' roll, exploring themes of family, legacy, loss, and love. Singles "Southwestern Son" and "Freight Train" preceded the album, with "Freight Train" noted for its anthemic energy.

With five albums and a strong work ethic reflective of Oklahoma's working-class spirit, Southall has established itself as a significant force in modern country rock.
