Sophia Ruan Gushée

Sophia Ruan Gushée is a nontoxic lifestyle expert, author, and founder who has spent nearly two decades translating environmental health and public health research into practical guidance. After a career in investment management, Gushée shifted her focus to studying toxic exposures from everyday products and routines. She is a graduate of Brown University and Columbia Business School, and founded Ruan Living, where she developed Practical Nontoxic Living, a program that examines how household products, routines, and indoor environments impact development, healthspan, and overall well-being.

Gushée is the author of the books "A to Z of D-Toxing" and "EMF Detox Workbook," creator of the D-Tox Academy and 40-Day Home Detox, and host of the "Practical Nontoxic Living" podcast. In her "Detox Deep Dive" series, she introduced the concept of Household Repeat Offenders, which refers to hidden toxic exposures in everyday items, and developed the LOLA POP Detox Method, a step-by-step framework for addressing these exposures. "A to Z of D-Toxing" has been recognized by physicians, researchers, and professors as a fact-based guide to toxic chemicals, heavy metals, and electromagnetic fields (EMFs) encountered through consumer choices and daily habits.

Gushée collaborates with companies and has served on the Brown University School of Public Health Advisory Council and the Well+Good Council.
