Solea Pfeiffer Biography
Solea Pfeiffer is a Zimbabwe-born American actress and singer acclaimed for her dynamic presence in musical theater. Her passion for music began early: she started violin lessons at age four and participated in theater camps and school productions throughout her youth. She earned a BFA from the University of Michigan and further honed her craft at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
Her breakout role came in 2016 when, at just 21, she was cast as Maria in "West Side Story" at the Hollywood Bowl, selected by conductor Gustavo Dudamel after he viewed her performances on YouTube. This led to her portrayal of Eliza Hamilton in the first national tour of "Hamilton," where she garnered widespread acclaim.
Pfeiffer's stage credits are extensive and include roles such as Eva Perón in "Evita" at New York City Center, Penny Lane in the Broadway adaptation of "Almost Famous," Eurydice in "Hadestown," and Satine in "Moulin Rouge!" She also starred as Myrtle Wilson in Florence Welch's "Gatsby: An American Myth" at the American Repertory Theatre.
In film, Pfeiffer made her debut as Leanne in Tyler Perry's "A Jazzman's Blues" (2022), a role that resonated with her own experiences of racial ambiguity. She also premiered her solo show "You Are Here" with Audible Theater.
