Sofi Tukker is a Grammy-nominated American DJ and production duo composed of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern. The group's name is a play on the members' names. Hawley-Weld and Halpern met at Brown University, where they performed on the same bill at an art gallery. Hawley-Weld's interest in Brazilian culture and the Portuguese language led her to Brazil, where she immersed herself in the language and collaborated with local poets and artists. Halpern, a former Division I basketball captain whose athletic career ended due to illness, shifted his focus to music production, a change that shaped the duo's future in electronic music.

Sofi Tukker is recognized for a genre-blending sound that incorporates elements of house, Brazilian funk, pop, and bossa nova. The duo released their debut single, "Drinkee," which received a Grammy nomination, followed by a second nomination for their debut album, "Treehouse." The track "Best Friend" reached No. 1 on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart, marking their first chart-topping hit. "Treehouse" also debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes Dance charts in multiple markets and led to a performance at the Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony.
