Slim Jxmmi, born Aaquil Iben Shamon Brown, is a rapper, songwriter, and one-half of the hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd, alongside his younger brother Swae Lee. Raised in Tupelo, Mississippi, Slim Jxmmi helped bring a rebellious energy and raw lyricism to the duo’s breakout sound, which took off in 2014 with their debut single “No Flex Zone.” Known for his gritty delivery and charismatic presence, he played a vital role in hits like “No Type,” “Black Beatles,” and “Swang,” contributing to the duo’s reputation for party-ready anthems and viral success. In 2018, he showcased his solo artistry with the release of Jxmtro, his portion of Rae Sremmurd’s triple album SR3MM, which featured tracks like “Brxnks Truck” and collaborations with artists such as Zoë Kravitz and Trouble. While Swae Lee often leans into melodic hooks, Slim Jxmmi grounds the group’s sound with aggressive bars and Southern flair. Despite personal challenges and time spent out of the spotlight, Slim Jxmmi returned with Rae Sremmurd’s 2023 album Sremm 4 Life, reaffirming his role as a dynamic force in modern hip-hop.
