Skip Holtz Biography
Skip Holtz is the head football coach at Louisiana State University. Holtz attended Holy Cross College for two years to improve his grades before he transferred to Notre Dame. Holtz began his spring season of his senior year as a quarterback, but was changed to flanker due to his poor throwing ability. As Holtz did not have a stellar playing career, he knew he wanted to remain around football so he began to investigate the possibility of becoming a coach. Holtz’s first coaching job was as a graduate assistant at Florida State University in 1987. He spent two years at FSU before he became the wide receivers coach at Colorado State University. Holtz spent 1990-93 at Notre Dame where he served as a wide receivers coach and an offensive coordinator. After Notre Dame, Holtz spent four years as the head coach of the University of Connecticut. His next job was at the University of South Carolina as the offensive coordinator and the quarterback coach. He also coached at East Carolina, South Florida and Louisiana Tech.
