Sivamani

Anandan Sivamani, known professionally as Sivamani, is a prominent Indian drummer recognized for blending classical drumming styles with jazz and world music influences. Sivamani studied with Carnatic master S.P. Balasubramaniam and incorporates a diverse range of instruments and traditions into his performances, contributing to the evolution of contemporary percussion in India.

Sivamani began experimenting with rhythm as a child, using household items as makeshift drums. He has become a well-known figure in the global music industry, collaborating with artists such as Youssou N'Dour, Zakir Hussain, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Elvin Jones, and A.R. Rahman, composer of Bombay Dreams. Sivamani released his first solo album, "Mahaleela," featuring a variety of vocalists and musicians performing original compositions.

Sivamani has performed at major international music festivals and served as a judge on Indian television music competitions. He received the Padma Shri for his contributions to the arts. Known for his dynamic stage presence and innovative percussion techniques, Sivamani is also a frequent speaker and performer at global events, where he discusses creativity, rhythm, and the role of music in connecting cultures.
