Simon Swerdlow

Simon Swerdlow is a futurist, entrepreneur, and keynote speaker whose life story begins with one of the most catastrophic nuclear disasters in history. Growing up in Mozyr, Belarus, a town situated along the Pripyat River, Swerdlow was a child when the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded, sending a plume of radioactive fallout across the region. As a teenager, he was among the 250 children who boarded the first international evacuation flight organized by Chabad's Children of Chernobyl, departing the radioactive zones of Belarus and leaving his family behind. That experience became a defining lens through which Swerdlow would approach challenges in his life and career.

Before emigrating to the United States, Swerdlow demonstrated entrepreneurial instincts in Belarus, inventing a specialized paint spray for the automobile industry and building a retail distribution network spanning 12 cities across the former Soviet Union. After arriving in the U.S., he pursued business education at Sy Syms School of Business, complementing an academic foundation that included an MS in mathematics and an M.Ed. from Belarusian State University. He joined a chocolate company as an entry-level floor employee and advanced to become its CEO. Under his leadership, the company expanded from a small office into an international business operating in 56 countries with more than 200 licensees and total revenues exceeding $30 million. He also developed a franchise model, growing the program to 18 franchisees before his departure.

Swerdlow is the founder and CEO of WeCo, a collaborative platform designed to help individuals discover their strengths, build high-performing teams, and bring ambitious projects to life. He has channeled more than 30 years of global business experience into a philosophy centered on action, clarity, and human alignment. His fluency in Russian, Spanish, Hebrew, and English reflects his international background and ability to connect with diverse audiences. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his efforts in helping others build and scale successful businesses.

As a public speaker, Swerdlow draws on his personal history to deliver talks on overcoming adversity, business leadership, futurism, and the philosophy of success. His firsthand experience with the Chernobyl disaster has made him a voice on nuclear safety and resilience; he has appeared on national television, including Fox News, where he spoke about the lessons of Chernobyl in the context of the Fukushima nuclear crisis in Japan. His speaking topics span business strategy, organizational design, and the human capacity to rebuild. Swerdlow continues to support Chabad's Children of Chernobyl, the organization he credits with giving him a second chance at life.
