Simon Baker

Simon Baker is an Australian actor and director celebrated for his work in television and film. He gained international fame as the lead in the CBS series “The Mentalist” (2008–2015), portraying the clever consultant Patrick Jane, and earlier as Nicholas Fallin in “The Guardian.” Baker’s film roles include “L.A. Confidential,” “The Devil Wears Prada,” and Margin Call, and he has directed episodes of both “The Mentalist” and “The Guardian.”

Before Hollywood, Baker appeared on Australian TV shows such as “E Street,” “Home and Away,” and “Heartbreak High.” In 2013 he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contributions to entertainment, and in 2012 he was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In recent years Baker has shifted between acting, directing, and producing. He starred in the Netflix drama “Boy Swallows Universe” and appeared in the Australian independent film “Limbo”, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2023. He has also signed with representation at Gersh and been linked to projects including the television adaptation of Lioness and roles in upcoming series such as “Scarpetta”.

Baker lives in Australia and is involved in environmental advocacy, including support for the World Heritage listing of the Great Australian Bight. He continues to take on diverse creative roles in film and television while balancing his personal life and passions outside of acting.
