Born Waylon Albright Jennings in 1979 in Nashville, Tennessee, he is the son of country music legends Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter. He emerged in the early 2000s with a raw, guitar-driven sound that drew as much from Lynyrd Skynyrd and Black Sabbath as from traditional country.
