Sheng Wang

Sheng Wang is a Taiwanese American stand-up comedian, actor, and writer known for his laid-back style and sharp observational humor. After graduating from the University of California, Berkeley, Wang began performing stand-up in San Francisco and New York City, developing his craft over two decades in both cities' comedy scenes. He honed his comedy in the San Francisco Bay Area, delivering jokes rooted in personal experience and the absurdities of everyday life.

Wang's early career included appearances at the Montreal Comedy Festival and a Comedy Central Presents thirty-minute special, which aired nationally. He won top honors at NBC Universal's "Stand Up for Diversity" comedy search, earning a talent holding deal with the studio. Wang also appeared on Comedy Central's "John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show," "Comedians of Comedy," and "Live at Gotham." He competed on "Last Comic Standing," reaching the top 10 contestants.

In television, Wang contributed as a staff writer, story editor, and executive story editor for the ABC sitcom "Fresh Off the Boat," and appeared on screen as Hank. He released the comedy album "Cornucopias Are Actually Horrible Containers" and appeared on the HBO Special "2 Dope Queens." Wang also performed at Clusterfest, opening for John Mulaney.

Wang's career expanded with the release of his debut Netflix special, "Sweet & Juicy," directed by Ali Wong. The special received positive attention, with The New York Times highlighting Wang's droll and relaxed delivery. Following this, Wang reunited with Wong for his second Netflix special, "Purple," filmed at the Warner Theater in Washington D.C. "Purple" explores the beauty of ordinary life moments, as Wang reflects on growing older and understanding adulthood through humor. His ability to transform everyday topics—such as antioxidants, shallots, and expensive berries—into engaging stand-up material has established Wang as a distinctive voice in contemporary comedy.
