Shazi Visram is an entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist focused on improving the health and well-being of children and families. Visram is the founder and former CEO of Happy Family Brands, a leading organic baby food company. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in history and visual arts from Columbia University and an MBA from Columbia Business School with a concentration in management and entrepreneurship. While attending Columbia Business School, Visram developed the business plan for Happy Family after a conversation with a friend about the challenges of preparing homemade baby food.
Happy Family Brands launched with five products in five stores and expanded to more than 100 products distributed internationally. Visram raised $23 million from 186 individual investors, including Honest Tea CEO Seth Goldman, chef Tom Colicchio, and actress Demi Moore. She gained national attention after appearing in an American Express television commercial highlighting inspiring businesses. Visram later sold a majority stake in Happy Family to Groupe Danone, enabling the company to expand its reach to 34 countries. Under her leadership, Happy Family became the fastest-growing baby food brand in the United States and the top organic baby food brand in U.S. food and grocery retail.
Visram has received recognition from organizations such as the World Economic Forum, Crain's New York Business, and Ernst & Young. Happy Family was named Fast Company's "Rockstar of the New Economy." She has also received the Columbia Medal of Excellence and recognition from President Barack Obama for her mission-driven business approach.
After her son was diagnosed with autism, Visram deepened her focus on developmental health. She founded HealthyBaby, a company dedicated to providing safe essentials for babies' developing brains and bodies. She also launched Healthynest, a personal care brand offering diapers and products for cleaning and skincare, applying her philosophy of creating healthier home products beyond food.
Visram serves on the boards of the Environmental Working Group, Columbia College, Columbia Business School, Recycle Track Systems, and Handsome Brook Farm. She is actively involved in social entrepreneurship and supports companies innovating in health and wellness, including Ovia Health and Bulletproof. Visram hosts "The Healthy Baby Show," a podcast for parents exploring research on child development, fertility, and parenting children with special needs. Her career reflects a commitment to innovation in children's nutrition, family health, and purpose-driven enterprise.
