Shaye Haver Biography
Major Shaye Lynne Haver (born 1990) made history on August 21, 2015, as one of the first two women—alongside Captain Kristen Griest—to graduate from the U.S. Army Ranger School. A former Apache attack helicopter pilot, Haver was part of the pioneering group of 19 women who qualified for the first gender-integrated Ranger School, proving that women could meet the same rigorous standards as their male counterparts.
Haver continued to break barriers in her career, becoming one of the first female infantry commanders when she took command of Company C, 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment in 2018. That same year, she was inducted into the U.S. Army Women’s Foundation Hall of Fame. In 2020, she led the military honor guard carrying the casket of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg as she lay in state at the U.S. Capitol.
As of 2023, Haver serves as a major in the 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) in Washington, D.C., continuing her legacy of leadership and service.
