Shawn Conrad

Shawn Conrad, known professionally as Freshco, is a New York-based artist whose career encompasses hip-hop, audio engineering, acting, and motivational speaking. Conrad gained recognition by winning the New Music Seminar's "Battle for World Supremacy" rap contest and toured with artists such as Ice Cube and Kid Rock, with appearances on MTV and BET under the name Freshco. He has performed alongside Notorious B.I.G. and Queen Latifah and has discussed his influence on figures in the hip-hop and R&B industry, including Busta Rhymes, Redman, and Queen Latifah.

After establishing a presence in hip-hop, Conrad transitioned into audio post-production and audio engineering. He worked at post-production facilities in New York, including Soundtrack and Photomag Sound, where he mixed early spots for "South Park," promos for "The Matrix," recordings for "King of the Hill," and audio for animated series such as "Yu-Gi-Oh" and "Pokémon." Conrad became known for his speed and skill as a post-audio sound mixer.

During his tenure as an audio engineer at 4Kids, Conrad was suggested as the rapper for the "One Piece" theme song while working on his own album at the company's facilities. He adapted provided keywords and lyrics into the rap, aiming for language that was accessible to children while maintaining appeal. The "One Piece" theme song has since become a significant part of anime music culture, with fans crediting it for introducing them to rap and R&B.

Conrad later released an updated version of the theme, incorporating additional characters.
