Shawn Bradley

Shawn Bradley is a former professional basketball player and actor, widely recognized for his time in the NBA and his appearance in the original “Space Jam” (1996). Standing 7 ft 6 in tall, Bradley played center for the Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, and Dallas Mavericks during a 12‑season NBA career.

In 2021, Bradley suffered a serious bicycle accident in the Dallas area that resulted in a spinal cord injury and left him paralyzed. Since then, he has focused on rehabilitation and continues to inspire many through his resilience, advocacy, and ongoing community engagement.

Drafted by the 76ers in 1993, Bradley was traded to the Nets in 1995 before joining the Mavericks in 1997. In Dallas, he produced some of his strongest professional performances, including a career‑high 32‑point game against the Los Angeles Clippers — the most ever by a center in Mavericks franchise history — along with 16 rebounds in the same contest. He finished that season averaging 13.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

After retiring from playing in 2005, Bradley dedicated himself to youth development and charitable work. He became deeply involved with West Ridge Academy, a Utah‑based private school serving at‑risk youth, where his responsibilities have included student support, counseling, coaching, and administrative duties. Bradley has been active in numerous community initiatives, including work with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, the Basketball Without Borders program, and international outreach efforts.
