Shari Redstone Biography
Redstone is chairwoman of media empire Paramount Global. She is president and CEO of National Amusements, and a former vice chair of CBS Corporation and Viacom. Through National Amusements, Redstone and her family hold majority voting power over Paramount Global and its subsidiaries – CBS, Comedy Central, BET, Showtime Networks, Nickelodeon, MTV and the film studio Paramount Pictures.
She facilitated the tentative merger between Skydance Media and Paramount Global in 2024. The $8.4 million megadeal is estimated to go into effect in Spring 2025.
Redstone is no stranger to dealmaking and in 2019, successfully facilitated the $12 billion merger deal between CBS Corp. and Viacom Inc. She is the first woman to have such a large stake of a U.S. media business, controlling a $30 billion media empire. Already, the media mogul has begun laying the groundwork for her next act and received her first Broadway credit as co-producer for the show "Job," which debuted in July 2024.
In 2020, Redstone was named on Time's list of the 100 most influential people in the world. In 2023, she ranked 37th in Forbes list of "World's 100 most powerful women."
Redstone is the daughter of media mogul Sumner Redstone.
