Sharan Burrow Biography
Sharan Burrow is a leading global advocate for human rights, climate action and a just transition to a sustainable economy. She served as General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation from 2010 to 2022 and previously as President of the Australian Council of Trade Unions from 2000 to 2010.
Burrow is internationally recognized for advancing workers’ rights, fair employment, responsible corporate governance and climate solutions grounded in social justice. She has represented workers and civil society in global policy forums across United Nations agencies, on the Governing Body of the International Labour Organization, and at the G7, G20, World Bank and International Monetary Fund. She has twice served as Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos.
She is currently a Visiting Professor in Practice at the LSE Grantham Institute and serves as a board director and adviser on climate, nature, just transitions, skills, rights and sustainability.
