Shane & Hannah

Shane Burcaw and Hannah Burcaw are disability advocates, authors, and content creators whose work has influenced public perceptions of disability and interabled relationships. Through their widely followed YouTube channel, Squirmy and Grubs, they provide an honest, humorous, and educational perspective on their lives, challenging stereotypes and misconceptions about disability and relationships. Shane, who lives with spinal muscular atrophy and uses an electric wheelchair, and Hannah, his able-bodied partner and primary caregiver, have built a global audience by sharing their experiences and insights with candor and wit.

Their advocacy extends into published works and public speaking. Shane is the author of the memoir "Laughing at My Nightmare," which was shortlisted for the ALA Excellence in Nonfiction Award, and together they have co-authored "Interabled," an exploration of their relationship and the broader challenges faced by couples in similar circumstances. As speakers, they have addressed audiences at universities, elementary schools, Fortune 500 companies, and major events such as the Abilities Expo, where they discuss disability stigmas, explain ableism, and promote inclusion through storytelling.
