Sebastian Aho

Sebastian Aho is a Finnish professional ice hockey forward known for his offensive skills in the National Hockey League. Aho began his professional career with Oulun Kärpät in the Finnish SM-liiga before being selected 35th overall in the NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Carolina Hurricanes and quickly established himself as a key contributor. In the playoffs of the Finnish championship finals, Aho scored the game-winning goal in overtime of Game 7, securing the title for Kärpät.

During his rookie season with Carolina, Aho recorded 24 goals and 25 assists for 49 points. He scored his first career hat trick against the Philadelphia Flyers, becoming the youngest player in Hurricanes/Whalers franchise history to achieve this milestone. Aho continued to break records, including surpassing Ron Francis' franchise mark for the longest season-opening point streak by recording a point in the Hurricanes' first 12 games. He was selected to participate in the NHL All-Star Game after leading the team in goals, assists, and points through 38 games.

Throughout his NHL career, Aho has led Carolina in scoring eight times and finished second twice. He has accumulated more than 310 goals and 711 points, establishing himself as the franchise's offensive cornerstone. Aho is the only NHL player to score at least 10 points in each of his first eight playoff seasons, demonstrating consistent postseason performance. In playoff competition, he has totaled 34 goals and 51 assists across 89 games.

Aho serves as an alternate captain for the Carolina Hurricanes, reflecting his leadership and role within the team. He is one of five Carolina players to have played each season under head coach Rod Brind'Amour, providing continuity during the franchise's resurgence as a playoff contender. Aho has won a Stanley Cup with the Hurricanes, highlighting his contributions to the team's championship success. He is signed to an eight-year, $78 million contract with Carolina, underscoring the organization's commitment to building around one of the NHL's top two-way forwards.
