Seal is an English singer, songwriter, and record producer recognized for his distinctive voice and genre-blending approach to contemporary music. Known for merging elements of Motown, British glam rock, and Chicago house music, Seal has achieved both critical and commercial success, earning multiple Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, and an MTV Video Music Award. His work in the music industry has resulted in the sale of more than 20 million albums and singles worldwide.

Seal's musical style features dense rhythms and soulful melodies, drawing comparisons to artists such as Marvin Gaye, Jimi Hendrix, and Peter Gabriel. Born on the outskirts of London to parents of Brazilian and Nigerian heritage, Seal faced significant challenges in his early life, including a period of poverty and a lupus diagnosis in his twenties that left him with facial scars. He began performing in London clubs, focusing on singing and songwriting while supporting himself through government welfare.

Seal's breakthrough came with his collaboration on Adamski's single "Killer," which reached number one in the United Kingdom. He subsequently signed with ZTT Records and released his self-titled debut album, which produced the singles "Crazy" and "Killer." Both tracks achieved high chart positions in the UK and entered the US Billboard Hot 100.

His second self-titled album solidified his international reputation, featuring songs such as "Prayer For the Dying," "Kiss From a Rose," and "Don't Cry." The single "Kiss from a Rose" reached the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 following its inclusion in the "Batman Forever" soundtrack. The track earned Seal three Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, and Record of the Year, and remained on the US charts for 45 weeks. The album sold four million copies in the United States alone.

Seal has continued to evolve as an artist, releasing albums such as "Live in Paris," "System," "Soul," "Soul 2," "7," and "Standards." His album "Soul" features covers of R&B classics by artists like Ben E. King, Curtis Mayfield, and Otis Redding, and was produced in collaboration with David Foster. Seal also contributed to Herbie Hancock's "The Imagine Project," earning a Grammy Award for best pop collaboration with vocals for a cover of John Lennon's "Imagine."

In addition to his recording career, Seal has maintained a presence in television and popular culture. He served as a judge on Australia's version of the reality singing competition "The Voice," where his contestants won in the first two seasons of his tenure. Seal portrayed Pontius Pilate in the Fox musical "The Passion" and appeared in the film "Me Time." He has also been featured in a Mountain Dew commercial for Super Bowl LIX and released an alternate version of "Kiss from a Rose" with a deluxe anniversary edition of his album "Seal," followed by the new song "All I Know is Now," produced by Trevor Horn.
