Scott Lehmann and Shayna Unger are profoundly Deaf mountaineers, educators, and storytellers who lead the Seeing Beyond project, which aims to become the first Deaf individuals to summit the highest peak on each continent—the Seven Summits. Lehmann and Unger have completed ascents of Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Denali, and Mount Everest, as well as other notable peaks including Chimborazo, Cotopaxi, Mont Blanc, and the Matterhorn. Their journey has been chronicled by major outlets such as ABC News, People Magazine, and CNN, highlighting their efforts to advocate for accessibility in the outdoors for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.

Lehmann and Unger developed their mountaineering skills primarily through self-directed learning, utilizing YouTube and direct communication due to the lack of accessible outdoor education. Their mission extends beyond climbing; they are committed to inspiring Deaf and Hard of Hearing youth, addressing educational disparities, and influencing global perceptions of their community. They ran the New York City Marathon to raise funds for PS 347, a New York City school for Deaf students. Supported by leading outdoor brands and frequently invited to speak at colleges and public events, Lehmann and Unger continue to share their experiences and promote inclusivity in adventure sports.
