Scott Simon

Scott Simon is an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning writer and broadcaster. He serves as the host of NPR's "Weekend Edition Saturday" and is one of the hosts of NPR's morning news podcast "Up First." Simon is also a special contributor to CBS Sunday Morning.

Simon has reported from all 50 states, five continents, and 10 wars, covering conflict zones such as El Salvador, Sarajevo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He has received major honors in journalism and broadcasting, including the Peabody Award, Emmy Award, Columbia-DuPont Award, Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award, Sidney Hillman Award, and a James Beard Award for his story "Conflict Cuisine" in Gourmet. Simon has been inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in Chicago.

His nonfiction books include "Unforgettable: A Son, a Mother, and the Lessons of a Lifetime," "Home and Away: Memoirs of a Fan," "Jackie Robinson and the Integration of Baseball," "Baby, We Were Meant for Each Other," "My Cubs: A Love Story," and "Just Getting Started" with Tony Bennett. Simon is also the author of several novels, including "Pretty Birds," "Windy City," "Sunnyside Plaza," and the audiobook "Swingtime for Hitler." He has participated in community and cultural events, such as performing with Ballet Austin and throwing out the first pitch at Wrigley Field, and is a member of the Lincoln Academy of Illinois.
