Sarah Thebarge

Sarah Thebarge is a physician assistant, author, journalist, and international speaker whose career integrates medicine, storytelling, and humanitarian service. Thebarge studied journalism at Columbia University School of Journalism and medical science at Yale School of Medicine. She earned a master's degree from the Yale School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program and is board-certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Thebarge serves as Post-Graduate Mentorship Program Lead Faculty at Amazon One Medical, where she contributes to clinical practice, medical education, and serves as a Medical Advisory Council Member, developing clinical guidelines and recommendations based on current medical research. She also teaches the didactic portion of the Post Graduate Mentorship Program, an internal training program for newly graduated nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Thebarge is the author of the memoir "The Invisible Girls," which recounts her experience surviving breast cancer in her 20s and her relationship with a Somali refugee family she met in Portland, Oregon. The book was recognized as a World Magazine Notable Book and was selected as the First Year Experience book for incoming freshmen at Mississippi State University, where Thebarge delivered the convocation.

Her second book, "Well," explores her work in global health, including her medical missions in Togo, West Africa, where she provided care in a mission hospital and faced significant health challenges, including a severe case of malaria. Thebarge has practiced international medicine in Togo, the Dominican Republic, and South Sudan, and established a clinic in Kenya for children orphaned by AIDS.

Thebarge's writing has appeared in National Geographic, USA Today, Everyday Health, Relevant Magazine, Christianity Today, Huffington Post, and Red Letter Christian. She has served as a spokesperson for Vanity Fair Lingerie's Women Who Do campaign and for Compassion International. As a speaker, Thebarge has presented at Donald Miller's Storyline Conference, the Jubilee Conference, and at more than 50 universities and colleges. Her talks address topics such as international aid, health communications, public health, and nonfiction writing. Thebarge frequently discusses cancer survivorship, global health, and humanitarian work, engaging audiences in the United States and internationally.
