Sarah Clatterbuck

Sarah Clatterbuck is an engineering leader whose career spans several influential technology companies in Silicon Valley. Her professional journey began with an internship at a tech startup during her third year of university, where she developed an interest in programming and decided to pivot her focus, ultimately earning a master's degree in information science while working as a software engineer. She has held roles at public companies ranging from small to large, including Apple, Packeteer, Yahoo!, LinkedIn, and Google.

At Yahoo!, Clatterbuck served as an engineering manager, leading development for the Universal Header platform and user experience. She joined LinkedIn as director of engineering, application infrastructure, women in tech and accessibility. During her tenure as senior director of engineering at LinkedIn, she led multiple groups in application infrastructure. Among her achievements was building a culture around accessibility and making products usable regardless of ability. She led LinkedIn's Accessibility Task Force, expanded it to a team of nearly 25 employees with full-time contributors, and spoke at conferences and industry events to promote accessibility.

Clatterbuck joined Google, where she leads engineering teams working on the creator economy at YouTube. She serves as senior director of engineering and Google Zürich site lead at YouTube. Her team focuses on diversifying economic opportunity for YouTube creators by providing multiple business models for revenue generation beyond traditional advertising. As Google Zürich site lead, she managed the challenge of establishing a new team during the COVID-19 pandemic and reintroducing teams to in-person work.

Clatterbuck was selected as one of The World's Top 50 Women in Tech by Forbes Magazine, a recognition of her technical expertise and impact on the technology industry. She is an advocate for building products that serve people with physical or cognitive challenges and is committed to encouraging girls to pursue technology careers, having served on the board of Girl Scouts of Northern California and leading the board's STEM task group. As a keynote speaker, her topics include female leadership, influential women, technology, and women in tech. She has emphasized that curiosity and resilience are essential attributes for engineers throughout their careers.
