Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez emerged on the entertainment scene with a powerful performance in "Spamalot," earning them the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Their talent spans different media, from stage to television, with notable roles including Callie Torres on "Grey's Anatomy," Kat Sandoval on "Madam Secretary," and Che Díaz on "And Just Like That..." Ramirez also contributed to the animation world, lending their voice to Queen Miranda in Disney Junior's "Sofia the First."

In addition to their acting career, Ramirez has a passion for music, which they demonstrated through their self-titled EP that debuted at number 37 on the Billboard 200. Their vocal skills were further showcased in the "Grey's Anatomy" musical episode "Song Beneath the Song" and on various soundtracks, including "Monty Python's Spamalot" and "Grey's Anatomy: The Music Event." Their first single, "Silent Night," was released in 2009. Ramirez was also involved in film production, partnering with the Pacer Foundation's Center for Bullying Prevention & Stomp Out Bullying on the 2016 teen comedy "Loserville."

Off-screen, Ramirez has been acknowledged for their advocacy work. They received the Ally for Equality Award from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation in 2015. They are a board member of True Colors United and The Task Force, both organizations that support LGBT rights. Identifying as non-binary and bisexual, Ramirez has been active in supporting LGBT rights and participated in activism for Palestinian liberation with ACT UP New York.
