Sara Lomelin

Sara Lomelin is the founding CEO of Philanthropy Together, a movement dedicated to diversifying and democratizing philanthropy by empowering everyday people to give collectively, resource grassroots nonprofits, and shift power dynamics in the philanthropic ecosystem. A self‑described philanthropy disruptor, she has traveled the world speaking about the power of collective giving and civic engagement, including delivering a TED Talk titled “Your Invitation to Disrupt Philanthropy.”

Under her leadership, Philanthropy Together has trained hundreds of community leaders to launch giving circles—people‑powered philanthropic groups that pool resources and share decision‑making—and has garnered support from major funders including the Gates Foundation, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, and Google. Her work has been recognized on TIME100 Philanthropy 2025, Forbes’ 50 Over 50: Impact List, and in The NonProfit Times Power & Influence Top 50.

Before founding Philanthropy Together, Lomelin served as Senior Director of Leadership Philanthropy at Opportunity Fund (now Accion Opportunity Fund) and was Vice President of Philanthropy at the Latino Community Foundation, where she created the Latino Giving Circle Network, the largest network of Latinx philanthropists in the United States. She serves on the National Council of the Women’s Philanthropy Institute at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and on the boards of GivingTuesday and Battery Powered.
