Sandi Patty

Sandi Patty is recognized as one of the most influential voices in contemporary Christian music. Known for her wide soprano vocal range and expressive flexibility, Patty has earned five Grammy Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, three platinum records, five gold records, and has sold more than 11 million units. She holds the distinction of being the most awarded female vocalist in contemporary Christian music history, with 40 Dove Awards, and has been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and named an Indiana Living Legend.

Patty's professional career began after signing with Singspiration Records and releasing her first album, "Sandi's Song." Her career expanded after winning her first two GMA Dove Awards and performing as a backup singer for Bill Gaither and the Bill Gaither Trio. Patty gained national attention with her rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" during the rededication of the Statue of Liberty, a performance that led to appearances on mainstream television programs such as "The Tonight Show," "Christmas in Washington," and the "Walt Disney Fourth of July Extravaganza." At the height of her career, Patty performed in sold-out arenas and concert halls across the United States, averaging more than 200 concerts annually.

Patty established her signature style in her early recordings by utilizing her vocal range through power ballads, orchestral arrangements, and dynamic key changes. This approach became a hallmark of her music throughout the 1980s. She also headlined the title role in sold-out performances of the musical "Hello, Dolly!" with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, co-starring Tony Award winner Gary Beach. Her album "Broadway Stories," conducted by Maestro Jack Everly, further showcased her range as a performer.

In addition to her music career, Patty is an accomplished author. Her memoir, "Broken on the Back Row: A Journey Through Grace and Forgiveness," details her experiences with personal hardship, including her extramarital affair, divorce, childhood sexual abuse, and journey toward forgiveness. The memoir earned her the Silver Angel Award. As the author of seven books, her other titles include "Life in the Blender," "Falling Forward," "Layers," and "The Edge of the Divine." Through her writing, Patty addresses themes of resilience, faith, and the transformative power of grace, extending her ministry beyond music.

During a pivotal phase of her career, Patty's public image evolved from that of a contemporary Christian music star to an inspirational speaker-singer, integrating spoken-word segments on vulnerability and healing into her concerts. While she retired from touring, Patty remains active as an Artist in Residence at Crossings Community Church, mentoring and supporting emerging artists and worship leaders.
