Samira Wiley Biography
Samira Wiley is an acclaimed actress known for iconic roles such as her Emmy Award-winning performance as Moira in Hulu's "The Handmaid's Tale" and her SAG Award-winning performance as inmate Poussey in "Orange Is the New Black." Wiley recently made her West End debut in “Blues For An Alabama Sky” at the National Theatre in London. Next, Wiley will be starring in the Sky and NBC limited series “Atomic” alongside Alfie Allen and Shazad Latif, and will return to the UK stage to star in “Intimate Apparel” at the Donmar Warehouse.
Wiley's film credits include "Breaking News in Yuba County" opposite Allison Janney, "Social Animals,” "Being Flynn,” "The Sitter,” and Kathryn Bigelow’s “Detroit.”
A proud LGBTQ+ advocate, Wiley has been named Out Magazine’s Ingenue of the Year, received the Visibility Award from the Human Rights Campaign, and the Vito Russo Award from GLAAD.
Samira is a graduate of The Juilliard School and lives in Los Angeles with her wife and daughter.
