Sam Heughan

Sam Heughan is a Scottish actor, producer, author, and entrepreneur recognized for his work across film, television, theater, and the spirits industry. A graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, now known as the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Heughan first attracted critical attention on stage, earning a nomination for the Laurence Olivier Award for Most Promising Performer for his performance in "Outlying Islands" at the Royal Court Theatre. He has appeared in a range of productions, including the BBC miniseries "Any Human Heart," the Hallmark film "A Princess for Christmas" with Roger Moore, and portrayed Batman in the touring stage show Batman Live.

Heughan is widely known for his role as Jamie Fraser in the Starz historical fantasy series "Outlander," adapted from Diana Gabaldon's novels. His portrayal earned him the People's Choice Award for Favorite Cable Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor, the Saturn Award for Best Actor on Television, and a nomination for the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series. The role expanded his international profile and led to film roles in "The Spy Who Dumped Me" with Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon, and "Bloodshot" alongside Vin Diesel.

In addition to acting, Heughan is a bestselling author and entrepreneur. He co-wrote "Clanlands: Whisky, Warfare, and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other" with Graham McTavish, which reached number one on the New York Times Best Seller List for hardcover nonfiction. The book complements their Starz travel series "Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip With Sam and Graham." Heughan launched The Sassenach, a blended Scotch whisky brand that has received double gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. He expanded his spirits business by founding the Galloway Distillery in his hometown, supporting the local economy.

Heughan is active in philanthropy and wellness advocacy. He founded My Peak Challenge, a global health and wellness community that has raised significant funds for causes such as blood-cancer research through Blood Cancer UK, ocean conservation through Ocean Conservancy, and wildlife protection through World Wildlife Fund. He ran the London Marathon in support of Blood Cancer UK. Heughan holds honorary degrees from the University of Stirling, the University of Glasgow, and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for his contributions to acting and charitable work. He has served as the first Global Brand Ambassador for English clothing label Barbour and as the first celebrity ambassador for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Heughan made his Royal Shakespeare Company debut in the title role of "Macbeth" at The Other Place in Stratford-upon-Avon, marking his return to the stage. He has also been cast in "Embassy," a geo-political action thriller series with Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons. Heughan is known for his advocacy of Scottish culture and heritage, combining classical training with a commitment to the entertainment industry, spirits entrepreneurship, and charitable initiatives.
