Saint Motel

Saint Motel is an American indie pop band based in Los Angeles, known for blending elements of dream pop, progressive indie, and Tropicalia influences. The group consists of singer, songwriter, and producer A.J. Jackson (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Aaron Sharp (lead guitar), Dak Lerdamornpong (bass), and Greg Erwin (drums). Jackson and Sharp formed the band while attending film school at Chapman University in Orange, California. They later recruited Lerdamornpong, who worked at a local sushi restaurant, and Erwin, who attended a nearby college, to complete the lineup.

The band's film school background is evident in their debut EP, "ForPlay," which featured a music video for each of its six tracks. Their first full-length album, "Voyeur," received attention from outlets such as KCRW and The Washington Post, debuting at No. 18 on the alternative specialty radio charts and placing six songs on the Hype Machine Charts. After signing with Parlophone, Saint Motel achieved international recognition with the single "My Type," which charted in the United Kingdom and across Europe, earning platinum certification in Italy. The track was featured in films and video games including "Paper Towns," "Mr. Right," "FIFA 15," and "Pro Evolution Soccer 2016," as well as in an episode of "The Blacklist" and in Volkswagen television commercials.

Saint Motel has performed on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on ABC, showcasing songs such as "My Type" and "Cold Cold Man." The band has also appeared on the main stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Their second album, "saintmotelevision," incorporated virtual reality technology, with a VR component for each track, making them the first band to release a full album with a virtual reality experience for every song. The single "Move" reached No. 3 on Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs chart and became a top 20 hit on Rock and Alternative radio.

Continuing their focus on music innovation, Saint Motel released "Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" as a series of EPs before compiling the full album, which included the single "It's All Happening" and additional tracks. The band later introduced the "Saint Motel Studios" concept, inspired by the classic Hollywood film studio system. Their fourth studio album, "Saint Motel & the Symphony in the Sky," featured previously released singles and new material. The band performed "Get It At Home" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and released a music video filmed at Mount Wilson Observatory in California. Saint Motel followed with the album "Afterglow."

Throughout their career, Saint Motel has toured with acts such as Imagine Dragons, Panic! at the Disco, Arctic Monkeys, Hippo Campus, and Weezer. The band is recognized for its inventive approach to indie pop, integrating visual storytelling, music technology, and multimedia experiences into its work.
