Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, known as Sadhguru, is a spiritual leader, yogi, and mystic recognized for his work in yoga, meditation, and environmental advocacy. After studying English literature at the University of Mysore and pursuing several business ventures, Vasudev experienced a significant spiritual awakening while meditating atop the Chamundi Hills. This experience led him to shift his focus from business to teaching yoga. He began by conducting yoga classes in Mysore and later traveled across Karnataka and Hyderabad, teaching Sahaja Sthiti Yoga.

Vasudev established the Isha Foundation, a nonprofit organization based near the Velliangiri mountains in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The foundation has grown into a global movement, supported by volunteers worldwide, and is known for its yoga programs, meditation retreats, and social outreach initiatives.

As an author, Vasudev has written more than 30 books, including "Inner Engineering: A Yogi's Guide to Joy" and "Karma: A Yogi's Guide to Crafting Your Destiny," both of which appeared on the New York Times bestseller list. His teachings emphasize practical methods for inner transformation and personal well-being, drawing on ancient yogic wisdom while engaging with contemporary scientific perspectives. Vasudev has addressed international forums such as the United Nations, World Economic Forum, and British House of Lords, and has spoken at academic institutions including Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Oxford, Yale, and Wharton on topics related to leadership, socioeconomic development, and human consciousness.

In addition to his spiritual work, Vasudev is known for environmental initiatives. He launched the "Rally for Rivers" campaign to raise awareness about India's river systems and led the "Cauvery Calling" project, which has encouraged thousands of farmers to adopt regenerative, tree-based agriculture. His "Save Soil" movement involved a solo motorcycle journey across multiple countries to advocate for global soil health policies, reaching billions of people and receiving support from United Nations agencies such as UNCCD, WHO, and IUCN. The campaign also led to the proclamation of Save Soil Day in several North American cities.

Vasudev has received recognition for his contributions to spirituality and humanitarian service, including the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award. He consecrated the Adiyogi Shiva statue in Coimbatore, a 112-foot structure certified by Guinness World Records as the world's largest bust, which serves as a symbol of yoga and meditation. Vasudev has been named among India's most influential people and continues to engage audiences globally with his insights on yoga, meditation, environmental sustainability, and human consciousness.
