Roya Mahboob Biography
Roya Mahboob is an entrepreneur and Afghanistan’s first female technology CEO. Mahboob has leveraged her experience in information technology and business to support the education and empowerment of Afghan women and girls, advocating for their rights within the technology sector.
Mahboob founded the Digital Citizen Fund, an organization focused on increasing technological and financial literacy among Afghan women. She also co-founded and supports the Afghan Girls Robotics Team. Mahboob has contributed to the development of Innovation and Technology Centers across Afghanistan and launched an online platform designed to amplify the voices of Afghan women and journalists. She frequently speaks and writes about the significance of STEAM education and economic opportunity for women and girls in relation to human rights.
Mahboob has been recognized by TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People list, received the Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Award, the Advancement of Gender Equality through Education Award, and was named a Young Leader by the World Economic Forum. She is also an Asia Game Changer, a recipient of the Presidential Leadership Scholarship, and a founding leader of The NewNow, a group of global leaders addressing worldwide challenges.
