Rosy Thachil

Dr. Rosy Thachil, MD, MBA, FACC, is a quadruple board-certified cardiologist and cardiac intensivist recognized for her contributions to critical care cardiology. Thachil serves as an assistant professor of medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at NYC Health + Hospitals. She completed a six-year accelerated BS/MD program between Penn State and Jefferson Medical College, followed by an internal medicine residency at Drexel University College of Medicine/Hahnemann University Hospital and a cardiovascular fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Her board certifications include cardiovascular medicine, internal medicine, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.

Thachil’s clinical focus includes acute cardiovascular care, cardiac critical care, and addressing health disparities. She directs care for critically ill cardiovascular patients, with particular interest in cardiogenic shock, acute coronary syndromes, and complex hemodynamic management in the cardiac ICU. Thachil has contributed to the development of critical care cardiology, serving on the American College of Cardiology Critical Care Cardiology Leadership Council and co-chairing the Industry and Innovation Council for the Society of Critical Care Cardiology. She also co-hosts the ACC Critical Care Cardiology podcast, engaging a global audience on topics in acute cardiovascular care.

Thachil is a frequent faculty member and invited speaker at national and international meetings, including the American College of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology Acute Cardiovascular Care Congress, and the NYU Critical Care Cardiology Symposium. Her scholarly work includes peer-reviewed publications, policy manuscripts, and digital media commentary, appearing in journals such as JACC Advances, European Heart Journal, and Public Health Reports, as well as platforms including the American College of Cardiology, American Medical Women's Association, Medscape, and Doximity. Her research interests focus on acute cardiovascular care, healthcare disparities, and the application of artificial intelligence and digital innovation in cardiology.

An advocate for health equity and women's representation in medicine, Thachil co-chairs the Gender Equity Task Force of the American Medical Women's Association and has contributed to national policy papers addressing disparities in medicine. She has served as a Doximity Digital Health Fellow, exploring innovation and technology in patient care and physician engagement, and has leveraged social media to advance professional education and advocacy, serving as a social media ambassador for the American College of Cardiology and Doximity. Thachil also holds an MBA from the Wharton School with a focus on healthcare management.

Thachil is an alumnus of the American College of Cardiology Emerging Faculty Leadership Academy and has been recognized by Cardiovascular Business in its "40 Under 40" list of national leaders in cardiology. She combines clinical work with leadership and advocacy, advancing women's roles in medicine and promoting equity in cardiovascular care through her work with national organizations, writing, and digital health.
