Ross Powers Biography
Ross Powers is a professional snowboarder and Olympic gold medalist, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern halfpipe snowboarding. Powers rose to prominence in the early 2000s for his technical skill, consistency, and creative approach to the sport. He earned international recognition at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, where he won the gold medal in men’s halfpipe and has been inducted into the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame.
Powers has multiple X Games medals, including gold in 2000 and 2001, and podium finishes in both halfpipe and slopestyle competitions throughout his career. His influence on snowboarding extends beyond competitive results; he is known for mentoring young riders, advocating for snowboarding safety, and promoting the growth of the sport at grassroots levels. He is currently the Snowboarding Program Director at Stratton Mountain School in Vermont.
