Ros Gold-Onwude

Ros Gold-Onwude is an Emmy Award-winning American-Nigerian sports broadcaster known for her expertise in basketball media. Gold-Onwude played basketball while earning a bachelor's degree in communications and a master's degree in sociology at Stanford University, where she competed in three Final Fours and two national championship games, helping the Cardinal win four conference titles as a starting guard. In her final season, she was named Pac-10 Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Gold-Onwude also played for the Nigerian national basketball team, contributing to the team's advancement to the semi-finals of the FIBA-Africa Olympic Qualifier tournament.

Gold-Onwude began her broadcasting career by developing a digital show focused on women's basketball, leveraging her connections at PAC-12 Networks to secure a weekly show that led to her first television contract. She served as the sideline reporter for the Golden State Warriors on NBC Sports Bay Area, covering the Warriors' appearances in three consecutive NBA Finals and two championships. Gold-Onwude was also the color commentator for the WNBA's NY Liberty for MSG Networks and joined NBC's coverage of the Rio Olympics as a sideline reporter for men's basketball. She worked for Turner Sports, covering the NBA regular season, playoffs, All-Star Weekend, and NBA Summer League games for TNT and NBATV.

Gold-Onwude covers NBA basketball on ESPN's TV, digital, and radio platforms and serves as a fill-in host of "First Take" with Stephen A. Smith. She has covered March Madness, the NCAA tournament, and Pac-12 men's and women's college basketball as both an analyst and reporter for Pac-12 Networks. Gold-Onwude is also a host for "The Boardroom" and hosted the sports debate show "Don't at Me," presented by The Players' Tribune and streamed on Twitter. She is recognized for her analysis and commitment to promoting basketball globally, including her roles as an investor and ambassador for NBA Africa.

Outside of broadcasting, Gold-Onwude advocates for mental health awareness and women's empowerment. She co-founded the "Sharing The WELLth" initiative, partnering with Fountain House to host conversations on careers, wellness strategies, and mental health for people living with mental illness. Gold-Onwude has participated in the NBA's Basketball Without Borders Program and NBA Africa Game, and has worked with the Hope 4 Girls Camp in Nigeria. She was listed among the top 100 honorees by OkayAfrica Magazine for her achievements in sports broadcasting and advocacy. Gold-Onwude's career spans from decorated college athlete to nationally recognized broadcaster and advocate for diversity and inclusion in sports.
