Ronald K. Fierstein

Ronald K. Fierstein is an American attorney, entertainment executive, producer, and author whose career spans intellectual property law, the music industry, Broadway, and film. Fierstein is recognized for his work as a litigator in the Polaroid Corporation v. Eastman Kodak patent infringement case and for authoring an insider account of the litigation. Beginning his legal career at Fish & Neave, Fierstein was part of the team representing Polaroid in its patent dispute with Eastman Kodak over instant photography technology. He worked closely with Polaroid's key witnesses, Edwin Land and Howard Rogers, during the discovery phase and throughout the federal court trial in Boston.

Fierstein's firsthand experience in the case served as the foundation for his book, "A Triumph of Genius: Edwin Land, Polaroid and the Kodak Patent War." The book provides a detailed biography of Edwin Land, founder of Polaroid Corporation, and explores Land's invention of the plastic polarizer and the development of instant photography technology. The work offers insight into the intersection of innovation, intellectual property law, and the evolution of the photography industry.

After leaving the practice of law, Fierstein pursued a career in the entertainment industry. He co-founded AGF Entertainment, a music artist development firm that represented recording artists including Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin, and Mary Chapin Carpenter. His work in music management contributed to the careers of several prominent singer-songwriters and informed his later endeavors in theater and film.

As CEO of RF Entertainment, Fierstein manages the legal and business aspects of his brother Harvey Fierstein's career in theater, film, and television, including productions such as "Torch Song Trilogy," "La Cage Aux Folles," "Hairspray," and "Newsies." Fierstein served as executive producer on the film adaptation of "Torch Song Trilogy" and is a Tony Award-winning co-producer of the Broadway musical "Kinky Boots." Fierstein's career reflects a broad engagement with intellectual property, entertainment law, music management, and theatrical production.
