Ron O'Hanley

Ron O’Hanley is the chairman and chief executive officer of State Street Corporation, a global provider of financial services to institutional investors. Since joining State Street, O’Hanley has held roles including president and chief operating officer, and previously led State Street Global Advisors, the firm’s investment management division. O’Hanley has guided the company through industry transformation, technological innovation, and changes in global finance, with a focus on asset management and institutional investing.

O’Hanley’s career includes leadership positions at several financial institutions. Before joining State Street, he was president of Asset Management & Corporate Services at Fidelity Investments, overseeing asset management organizations and enterprise technology. He also served as president and CEO of BNY Mellon Asset Management and vice chairman of Bank of New York Mellon Corporation, managing global operations with responsibilities in Asia. Earlier, O’Hanley was a partner at McKinsey & Company, where he founded the firm’s Investment Management practice and co-led its North American Personal Financial Services practice, building expertise in financial strategy and organizational leadership.

O’Hanley is active on boards including Unum Corp., The Boston Foundation, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.
