Robyn Denholm

Robyn Denholm is a business executive in the global technology sector, known for her role as chair of Tesla, Inc. Denholm was appointed to this position following a settlement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. She has held the highest remuneration of any public company chair in the United States. Her career spans more than three decades of financial and operational leadership across influential technology companies.

Denholm began her career in accounting at Arthur Andersen in Sydney before spending seven years at Toyota Motor Corporation Australia. She joined the finance division of Sun Microsystems, relocating to the United States and becoming head of its corporate strategic planning division. Denholm was later appointed chief financial officer of Juniper Networks, where she also served as executive vice president and chief financial and operations officer. During her tenure at Juniper Networks, the company’s revenues more than doubled. She was named to the Silicon Valley Business Journal Women of Influence list and was a Bay Area CFO of the Year finalist.

Denholm served with Telstra Corporation Limited as chief operations officer and then as chief financial officer and head of strategy. She joined Tesla’s board as a director and chair of the audit committee before being appointed chair. Denholm brings nearly 30 years of executive leadership experience at NYSE and Nasdaq-listed companies, with expertise in risk management, financial and accounting operations, and technology leadership.

Beyond Tesla, Denholm has played a significant role in the Australian technology sector. She was the inaugural chair of the Technology Council of Australia and serves as a board director. Denholm joined Blackbird Ventures as an operating partner, working with founders of later-stage technology companies, and later transitioned to a role on Blackbird’s board of directors. She has been recognized with the Prime Minister’s Prize for Science and has been ranked on the Forbes list of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women and Fortune’s Most Powerful Women list.

Denholm is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia/New Zealand, a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Sydney, as well as a master’s degree in commerce and a Doctor of Business Administration (honoris causa) from the University of New South Wales. She has been a keynote speaker at industry events and has authored articles on diversity in the technology industry. Denholm’s experience spans automotive, telecommunications, networking, and clean energy, establishing her as a voice on technology, corporate governance, and sustainable innovation.
