Roberto Medrano

Roberto Medrano is a Silicon Valley technology executive whose career spans more than four decades at the forefront of significant shifts in the technology industry. With experience in both small and large companies, Medrano brings extensive P&L, IPO, acquisition, and board experience, having helped businesses grow to more than $1 billion in revenue. He has been involved at the inception of five information technology sectors: EDA, open systems, computer security, SOA, and API management, contributing to foundational advancements in each area.

Medrano is recognized as a cybersecurity pioneer, leading initiatives in the early phases of firewall, content security, and security policy development. He was selected as a participant in President Clinton's White House Security Summit on cybersecurity, which convened technology industry leaders and senior administration officials. Medrano is a founder and board member of the Information Technology Information Sharing and Analysis Center (IT-ISAC) and participated in the National Cyber Security Summits and The White House National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace. These early contributions to national cybersecurity policy established Medrano as a trusted voice at the intersection of technology and governance.

Throughout his executive career, Medrano has held senior leadership roles at major technology companies. His experience includes C-suite and executive positions at Hewlett Packard, Sun Microsystems, Avnet, and Finjan, where he led organizations through IPOs and M&A transactions while scaling revenues to over $1 billion. As General Manager of HP Software, Medrano was one of the top 100 senior executives at HP, overseeing strategic emerging businesses in cybersecurity, middleware, management, web services, CRM, and e-commerce. Medrano serves as a board member in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, blockchain, IoT, middleware, API security, microservices, DevOps, software, SaaS, cloud, and healthcare companies, and has held executive roles at five public companies and board positions at more than 15 companies that have been acquired.

Medrano serves on the boards of Cyvatar.ai, Lief Labs, BLAZE, and the Braille Institute of America, and leads Beach View, a consulting firm advising CEOs and C-suite teams on growth, product strategy, and digital transformation. Inc. 5000 has included four of Medrano's companies on its list of fast-growing businesses. His governance credentials include board governance certifications from NACD, KPMG, the Latino Corporate Directors Education Foundation, and Diligent Leadership programs.

Medrano has been ranked among the top 250 CMOs globally, named to The 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the US, and recognized as one of The 100 Most Influential Latinos of Silicon Valley. He has been inducted into the HITEC Hall of Fame and recognized on the HITEC 100 list for ten years. Medrano holds an MBA from UCLA, a master's of engineering from MIT, and an undergraduate engineering degree from USC, providing a strong academic foundation for his work in technology leadership, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.
